September Mixer Rescheduled Again -- IMPORTANT

September 27, 2005

To All Houston Big Game Fishing Club Members and Supporters:

The Membership Mixer rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 at Willie G’s has been rescheduled again. It has now been set for next Wednesday, October 5 to allow everyone to recover from the disruption and/or damage caused by Hurricane Rita. The location has not changed; Willie G’s Restaurant, 1605 Post Oak Blvd, Houston.

The Katrina Relief Fund has been changed to the HBGFC Hurricane Relief Fund to allow for flexibility to provide assistance where it is most needed. If you have pledged a donation, or are planning to donate, please make your checks payable to: HBGFC Hurricane Relief Fund.

We hope everyone and their property is safe and that all who evacuated have returned and recovered from the evacuation ordeal.

Please plan to join us next Wednesday at Willie G’s on South Post Lane (near Galleria just outside Loop 610 north of San Felipe).

Since this rescheduling comes with such short notice please help notify any other members or supporters who may not get this email.

Thanks, good luck and come join us next week. It will certainly be time for some fun with your friends in the HBGFC!

Fall Events and Katrina Relief Fund --- IMPORTANT ---

Fall Mixer and Katrina Relief Fundraiser

TWO MORE EVENTS TO CAP OFF A GREAT YEAR
September 21, 2005 Social Mixer and Katrina Fundraiser
November 16, 2005 Annual Meeting and Social Mixer

We still have 2 events scheduled for the rest of the year with the first on September 21st at Willie G’s Seafood and Steakhouse at 1605 Post Oak Blvd. Houston, Texas, 77056, 713-840-7190. There will be hot and cold appetizers and beer for a nominal $25.00 per person entry fee with a cash bar. We will have fantastic fishing videos, club announcements and great camaraderie with your fishing friends. This event will also be a Hurricane Katrina Relief Fundraiser dedicated specifically for those individuals in the big game fishing industry from our neighboring states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama who were severely impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Details of the Club’s Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund are provided directly below this news item. This event will be a great opportunity to lend a helping hand. This is going to be one of the most important events that the HBGFC and its members will ever take part in, please come out and help us help those that need it the most!

Our final event of 2005 will be our November 16th Social Mixer and HBGFC Annual Meeting for all members who wish to attend. The location is still being determined due to the size of the potential turn out of members who may attend. With 200 members we may need a venue much larger than we have had in the past and we hope to see every one of our members at this important event. The Annual Membership meeting is your opportunity to receive detailed financial reports, ask questions and provide input to the Board.

The Board of Directors of the Houston Big Game Fishing Club wants to thank each and every one of you for your part in providing a fantastic start to a fantastic Club!

And again, please help with the Katrina Reilef Fund. This is not a fundraiser for the Club as 100% of the money raised will be distributed to Katrina victims!

HBGFC Katrina Relief Fund

HOUSTON BIG GAME FISHING CLUB’S
HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF FUND

On Wednesday, August 31st, the Board of Directors of the Houston Big Game Fishing Club created a Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Our relief effort will be directed to provide assistance to those individuals and groups in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama directly involved in the big game fishing industry that have been severely impacted by the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina on their lives and livelihoods.

The Board voted to commit the initial $10,000.00 and will work with the membership and other interested supporters to at least match the Club’s contribution. As communication improves with our affected neighbors in Louisiana and Mississippi we hope to coordinate our efforts with the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club, Mobile Big Game Fishing Club and the Mississippi Big Game Fishing Club to maximize our fundraising and identify the most needy recipients of this relief.

While details are still being worked, out the plan is to direct our relief to those individuals in need who are vital to the service side of the big game fishing industry. Recipients may include marina employees, service yard employees, captains, mates, crew members, bait store operators/employees, small business operators, restaurant workers and others that have lost their livelihoods, homes, cars, businesses, family members or otherwise need assistance to rebuild their lives and get back to normalcy as quickly as possible. Many of these people will slip through the FEMA and Red Cross cracks or need more assistance than the big relief organizations can provide.

We anticipate establishing a small committee that includes our friends and neighbors in the affected areas to identify, nominate and assist in ensuring that our relief funds help those most in need and who will be vital in rebuilding the service sector that all big game fishing participants depend on to pursue this sport we all have so much passion for.

We will keep the HBGFC membership informed as the details are developed and hope you will choose to donate to this cause at whatever level you are comfortable with.

Contributions can be made immediately by sending donations and filling out the form below. Mail your check to the Club made out to; HBGFC – Katrina Relief Fund. You may also pay by credit card or make a pledge, to be contributed at your convenience by mailing or faxing the form to the Club so that we can determine the amount of relief we will be able to distribute. If you choose, you may also wait until more details are developed. If so, please send us an email or call the club and we will make sure you receive additional information as it is developed.

The Board of Directors is well aware that many of you have already made generous contributions of money and time to the victims of this devastating hurricane as the Greater Houston Area has led the nation in assisting the recovery and humanitarian efforts that will be ongoing for months and years to come.

Please consider joining the efforts of the Houston Big Game Fishing Club, our members and supporters by making a contribution that will directly benefit those who do so much to help make our fishing trips possible. One Hundred Percent of the relief funds raised will be distributed to needy recipients.

Please direct any questions or comments directly to the Club office or any HBGFC Board Member.
