2026 Fun Fishing Day
The 13th Annual FUN FISHING DAY will be held at the Pelican Rest Marina this Fall (date to be determined). We are excited to host the children of the Ronald McDonald House AND the children of Shriners Children’s Hospital of Galveston again this year!
The children and their families will spend the morning fishing with Club volunteers who will help them bait their hooks, reel in their fish, and keep track of their winning catches. Families are treated to a delicious lunch and refreshments, followed by a fun awards presentation, before their departure. No one leaves empty-handed. Our Volunteers, Donors, and Sponsors help support the event in multiple ways and ensure all families go home with a little extra gift and some fun pictures to remember their FUN FISHING DAY!

The Houston Big Game Fishing Club Scholarship Trust has been established to provide financial aid to qualified students who plan to attend a Texas university or college. The Board of Directors and Scholarship Committee will award scholarships each year, including one recipient designated as the Randy Bright Scholar, along with additional selected recipients. Scholarship amounts will be determined at the Club’s discretion and may be applied toward tuition, campus housing, or other university or college expenses.
Scholarships will be awarded in such amounts and to such students as determined appropriate by the Club. The following criteria will be considered:
The candidate must be a high school or GED graduate. Preference may be given to students pursuing degrees in marine sciences or conservation. Candidates must be accepted at a recognized university or college in the State of Texas and must pursue a course of study leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree. The minimum enrollment requirement is 12 hours per semester.
